Investment
As per Investopedia in an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but are used in the future to create wealth. In finance, an investmentis a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide income in the future or will be sold at a higher price for a profit.
Normally most of the time we are confused with two similar kind of word, SAVINGS and INVESTMENT.
Simply we can say that in case of INVESTMENT we can break the INFLATION which is not possible in case of SAVINGS.
Now there are lots of avenues available for investment, e.g; gold, property, shares, Mutual Funds, FD’s etc. Even some people are also invest in some alternative products, like in precious gems, art works, exclusive old wine etc.
Now to make it simple we can divide INVESTMENT into two broad products,
Fixed Financial Instruments and Variable Financial Instruments
In case of Variable Financial Instruments returns are not fixed, they are fluctuating. But these instruments are very important to beat the inflation. The popular examples are stock & mutual funds.
In case of Fixed Financial Instrument an investor can either earn regular return against his/her investment or cumulative return at the time of maturity. Any way it will be fixed and written over the instrument. The popular examples are BANK FD, Corporate FD etc.
Here Corporate FD will be a better choice over the Bank FD. As they are giving not only better return, but also highly secured.
We are dealing with the following AAA rated (which is most secured after Sovereign Guarantee) housing finance companies FD.
